Ethical Standards and Procedures
Sparkling Publishing is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards throughout the publishing process. We adhere to guidelines set by leading organizations, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). All research involving human participants must conform to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Manuscripts that do not meet these ethical requirements will not be published.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must ensure their work meets all editorial requirements, including originality, accuracy, and compliance with ethical guidelines. Submissions must include declarations affirming the manuscript’ s novelty (unpublished elsewhere), absence of plagiarism, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and proper attribution of others’ work. Authors are required to engage transparently in peer review, promptly address errors via corrections or retractions, and provide comprehensive references. Financial or personal relationships that could influence the work must be fully disclosed. Prior to acceptance, authors retain the right to withdraw submissions through the journal’s electronic editorial system.
Authorship Criteria and Contributorship
Sparkling Publishing follows the COPE guidelines for authorship standards, which state that contributors must have made a substantial contribution to the conception, execution, or interpretation of the study, and approved the final manuscript. You can find detailed information about these standards in the COPE report publicationethics.org/files/2003pdf12_0.pdf. Individuals who do not meet these standards (e.g. technical support) should be acknowledged but not listed as authors. Any disputes regarding authorship must be resolved by the submitting institution prior to publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for evaluating manuscripts impartially, giving priority to scientific validity, originality and social impact. Decisions will not discriminate based on the author's gender, race, geographical origin, religion or political beliefs. Publishers and editors must ensure that corrections, retractions or apologies are issued promptly in the event of ethical violations. Suspected research misconduct (e.g. unethical experiments) will trigger an investigation and the editorial office will request the authors, if they have not already done so, to submit information on approval of the described research procedures by an appropriately established ethics committee for the conduct of a clinical trial.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
As part of the double-blind review process, reviewers must evaluate the manuscript impartially and must not have personal biases or conflicts of interest, which must be declared before accepting the invitation to review. Reviewers must treat the submitted manuscript as a confidential document and must not share or discuss its content without authorization. Timely submission of evaluations is essential to maintaining the publication schedule. In addition, reviewers should alert the editor to any suspected plagiarism, data falsification, or other forms of misconduct.
Policies Regarding Plagiarism
Plagiarism (defined as misrepresenting the words, data, or ideas of another person as one's own in any form) constitutes academic fraud. Editors will not accept papers that use ghostwriting or guest authorship and will disclose all such behavior, especially signs of scientific dishonesty (violation or undermining valid ethical principles in scientific research) and plagiarism. Plagiarized content will result in immediate rejection or withdrawal and may lead to a submission ban. It is the responsibility of the author to ensure permission to reproduce the material and ensure proper attribution.
Policies Regarding Advertisements
Advertisements are strictly segregated from editorial content and must be approved by the journal owner, publisher, or editor-in-chief. Advertisements do not imply endorsement by the journal, publisher, or editor. Advertisers must be clearly identified and the journal is not responsible for claims made in advertisements. Commercial content may not influence editorial decisions or undermine the scientific integrity of the journal.
Policies for Research Involving Human and Vulnerable Populations
Research involving humans must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and include ethics committee approval and informed consent documentation. Patient identifying information (e.g. name, hospital ID, etc.) must be anonymized. Research on vulnerable populations (e.g. children, the elderly, or cognitively impaired people) requires explicit consent from the participant or legal guardian. CTR Journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that lack ethical oversight.
